Northfield Ecocentre runs events throughout the year to complement the work we do both with our groups and our advice and also to raise awareness of ourselves and some of the environmental issues we are concerned about.

Below are the details of up coming events we are running and also a description of some of the previous events we've run to give you a taster of what we do.

 

Up coming events:

 

Friends of Victoria Common litter pick - 26th September 11.00am - Come and help us rid the park of litter and find out more about what the group will be doing.

 

Nappuccino Afternoon - 14th October 2.30 - 4.30pm - A great combination of drinks, biscuits and babies! Come and learn how real nappies can help you, your baby, your pocket and the environment.

Previous events:

Films: So far we have shown Food Inc., The Age of Stupid and An Inconvenient Truth, all of which have been very well attended and have been followed by interesting debates led by some relevant and very knowledgeable hosts such as Tom Baker (LOAF) and Joe Peacock (Friends of The Earth).

Talks: Previous talks have included Basic Permaculture

Green Grotto: This was attended by Father Christmas himself and was aimed at showing people how to have a green Christmas. It included craft activities on how to make decorations from recycled materials and free LOAF recipes (local, organic, animal friendly and fair-trade). The event was run in conjunction with a local craft fair that was hosted at the local Quaker meeting House.

Warm for Winter: Just before winter came upon us we ran an event showcasing local organisations that help people save energy (such as insulation and solar power companies) and live more sustainably (local credit union and the Wildlife Trust).
